Government must end the drama & release Basin legal advice

The Government must act to restore confidence in the Murray-Darling Basin reform process and release all legal advice relating to the consistency of the proposed Basin Plan with the Water Act, Coalition Basin spokesman Simon Birmingham said today.

Carbon tax and the Great Barrier Reef

In Senate Estimates last night it was revealed that Treasury and Tourism Departments had still not modelled the impacts of a carbon tax on the sector.

Today I spoke in the Parliament on my Private Member’s Bill on Queensland’s Wild Rivers.
  
The Wild Rivers (Environmental Management) Bill 2011 provides that a Queensland Government declaration of a wild river – effectively locking away the surrounding land from economic development – can only take effect if the traditional owners of the land consent to it.

Labor has played every trick to dodge a vote on the Wild Rivers (Environmental Management) Bill 2011.
