Leaked cables confirm Defence White Paper black hole

The Opposition’s assertion that the 2009 White Paper was a dangerous and flawed document as it failed to provide any detail on how it was going to be funded has been endorsed by Australia’s closest ally in Wikileak’s latest cables.

Shadow Defence Minister Senator Johnston said the Opposition had always maintained that the White Paper was not a valid strategic document with its 144 pages containing only one and a half pages of the vaguest funding detail.

A detour on the way to Mental Health reform

The Federal Government has allowed only two weeks for people to comment on its Ten-Year Roadmap for National Mental Health Reform.

Senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells, Shadow Minister for Ageing and Shadow Minister for Mental Health, said the arrogance shown by the Labor Government was breathtaking.
