2011 Jandakot Budget Wins

New Jandakot Police Station

Providing $18 million for the new Cockburn Central Police District Hub to service our community.

  • Purchasing two new Booze and Drug buses with $5.4 million to make our roads safer.

Air Conditioning in Schools

$52 million over four years to provide air conditioning in all government schools.

  • Stage One of the roll out includes Aubin Grove Primary School, Atwell College, Atwell Primary School, Harmony Primary School, Lakeland Senior High School, South Lake Primary School, Bibra Lake Primary School, Banksia Park Primary School, Leeming Primary School, West Leeming Primary School, Leeming Senior High School.

Improving Public Transport

Easing congestion on our trains with 45 extra train carriages to accommodate 8400 passengers each day.

  • Purchasing an additional 78 new buses over the next four years.
  • 490 new parking bays at Cockburn Train Station, to be constructed and completed by early 2012.

Building Infrastructure, Better Roads

$3.659million for the Roe Highway extension Project Development South Street.

  • $2.5million to Murdoch Drive interchange as part of a $15 million in road projects to make sure that the Fiona Stanley Hospital is accessible.
  • Widening the Kwinana Freeway to three lanes between Leach Highway and Roe Highway, that will include new noise attenuation barriers.

Giving More Back to Our Seniors

For singles the senior’s Cost of Living Rebate will increase from $104.80 to $150 and for couples the senior’s Cost of Living Rebate will increase from $157.22 to $225.

  • For people over 60 they can now work up to 25 hours a week (up from 20) and still be eligible for the Seniors Card.  This change will allow an extra 4500 seniors to receive these benefits.
