Member for Bateman Christian Porter has welcomed two major changes to the Western Australian education system announced by the Premier Colin Barnett and Education Minister Liz Constable. These changes are designed to give Western Australian children the educational advantages they need.
In 2013 pre-primary will become compulsory for all students and will ensure that all pre-primary aged children have access to a high-quality, full time program.
Year 7 public school students will move to secondary schools in 2015 and will join about one third of WA year 7 students already learning in secondary settings.
More information on the changes is available on www.det.wa.edu.au/schoolsandyou or call 1800 791 197.
