Policy Committee
The heart of any political party is policy. It is through policy that people in politics seek to express their ideas and vision for our community.

The Liberal Party has been doing this for 60 years and any individual member has the opportunity to originate policy ideas for discussion and possible adoption by the party.

The Constitution of the Liberal Party in WA mandates the election of a State Council Policy Committee as a forum for discussion of policies and issues with a view to putting these ideas to the wider party. The Policy Committee also has a role to review policies developed by the Parliamentary Party and make suggestions or comment as necessary.

The Policy Committee aims to meet monthly and will also arrange for meetings with Senior Parliamentary figures when they are available. The Policy Committee is an avenue for Branch members to put forward their ideas for consideration by State Council. In recent times, the committee has also undertaken to follow up motions passed by State Conference and State Council where an action is required by our Parliamentary Party. The Policy Committee can form sub-committees and there is currently a very active Federalism sub-committee chaired by Dean Smith highlighting this important area of debate. The Chairman and Committee also welcome participation by members of the party not otherwise elected, especially where they may have specialist knowledge or expertise.

The current Chairman of the Policy Committee is Andres Timmermanis who is available on 0413 940 613 to discuss issues or how best to put forward your ideas or issues. He is assisted by current committee members; Jeremy Buxton, Dean Smith, Bob Reid, Tom White, Lorraine Findlay, David Siglin and Jonathon Bell and Rhys Kidd.
