| About Liza |
![]() As the Member for Scarborough Liza Harvey believes the key to a vibrant, safe and successful community is the active participation of the community. Living in the Scarborough electorate for nearly 20 years, Liza has enjoyed working with local residents on road and community safety issues even before she was elected as your local Member of Parliament. Liza and her husband Hal together with their two children Elizabeth and Jack live locally in Scarborough and are active members of our community. Growing up, Liza spent a lot of time travelling the Pilbara and Kimberley because of her father’s job as a surveyor with the Lands and Surveys Department. The planning and work of these people in the 60s and 70s built the foundations for the growing economy we enjoy today. Working with the Premier Colin Barnett, Liza recognises that the challenge now is to ensure we use the economic good times to deliver world-class health and education facilities, a safer community and build important infrastructure for the future. The value of hard work was instilled in Liza at an early age. As the third of six children, Liza’s parents always made sure she worked her hardest and helped out the rest of the family. Liza got her first job as a casual waitress at the age of 14 while she was still at school, before working in a roadhouse, as a nanny, in a day-care centre and for Qantas. Liza firmly believes that you can’t get anywhere in life without rolling up your sleeves and working hard. Together with her husband Hal, the two worked hard to build the former Harvey’s Tackle in Scarborough into the successful Bluewater Tackle World group, with five stores and more than 50 employees across Western Australia. This achievement took a lot of hard work, determination and commitment – three attributes Liza will continue to use to build a better community in the electorate of Scarborough as your local Member of Parliament. |
