Following the election victory on 6 September 2008, Alyssa Hayden was elected to the Western Australian Government as a Member for the East Metropolitan Region.  Although the Barnett Government was sworn into office on 23 September 2008, Alyssa had to wait eight more months before being sworn into the Legislation Council on 22 May 2009, where she joined the Liberal-National Government.

Alyssa has 15 years experience in running a medium to small business, employing up to 34 staff.  During this time Alyssa remained a strong supporter of the Midland & Districts Chamber of Commerce, now known as the Swan Chamber of Commerce and holds a deep passion for Midland and its surrounding areas.  Alyssa has been a committee member for the Swan Business Awards Committee for over 17 years and now Chairs this committee.
