Hon Simon O'Brien MLC

The Hon. Simon O’Brien, MLC for the South Metropolitan region, was first elected to Parliament in 1996 for the term commencing in May 1997. He was re-elected in 2001, 2005 and 2008.

Mr O’Brien is currently the Minister for Finance; Commerce and Small Business, and Deputy Leader in the Legislative Council. His portfolio responsibilities include State Revenue, Government Procurement, Building Management and Works, Labour Relations, Consumer Protection, WorkSafe, WorkCover, Energy Safety, Building Commission, Small Business Development Corporation, the Australian Marine Complex and local content policy. He has previously served as Minister for Transport; Disability Services.
